Premier League clubs have decided to stick with VAR, despite the occasional controversy it brings. In a vote that was as one-sided as a match between Manchester City and a team of garden gnomes, the clubs voted 19-1 to keep the video assistant referee system.

This decision means that VAR will continue to be a part of the Premier League, for better or worse. Fans can look forward to more nail-biting moments as decisions are reviewed, and referees can look forward to more opportunities to be second-guessed by pundits and armchair experts alike.

So, while VAR may not be perfect, it seems the Premier League clubs have decided that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Let’s hope that the system continues to improve and that the occasional controversial decision doesn’t overshadow the excitement of the game.
