President John Mahama has announced his first set of ministerial appointments following his inauguration.

Among the key appointments are Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as the Minister for Finance Designate, Hon. John Abdul Jinapor as the Minister for Energy Designate, and Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine as the Attorney General and Minister for Justice Designate.

These nominations are part of Mahama’s strategy to form a competent administration focused on economic revitalization and governance.

President John Dramani Mahama has indicated that the privatization of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is being considered as a strategy to address inefficiencies in power distribution within the country.

This suggestion was made during a meeting with a World Bank delegation in Accra. Mahama emphasized the need for private sector involvement to fix systemic issues within ECG, reflecting on past initiatives like the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project under his Vice Presidency which aimed at enhancing Ghana’s electricity sector efficiency.

He argued that without addressing the inefficiencies at ECG, Ghana would continue to face challenges in its entire power value chain.

Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank, recently visited John Mahama, Ghana’s President-elect, in Accra.

This meeting was facilitated by Alhaji Ibrahim Mahama, where they discussed various matters, likely related to economic development and cooperation between the African Development Bank and Ghana.
