The leadership of the Transport Operators Association of Ghana has announced a 15 percent (15%) transport fare increment.
The Commercial Transport Operators have issued a statement announcing a 15% increase in transport fares effective Monday, 22nd July 2024. They attributed this decision to the increased prices of fuel and spare parts.
This decision has sparked widespread discussion among Ghanaians, with many expressing concern over the economic impact and frequency of fare hikes.
“This has become necessary due to the recent surge in petroleum and spare parts prices coupled with economic hardship.”
“Some oil marketing companies (OMCs) have begun upwardly adjusting their prices at the pumps following the commencement of July’s second pricing window,” a statement they issued on Wednesday, July 17 said.
