The New Patriotic Party on Thursday, July 4th annouced that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has been chosen as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana.
This decision was made by the National Council of the NPP and was unanimously endorsed. Dr. Opoku Prempeh, also known as “Napo,” is the current Energy Minister and a Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region. His selection as the running mate is seen as a strategic move by the NPP, given his experience in government and his popularity among party members and the grassroots.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will indeed need to demonstrate that the Bawumia-NAPO team has the capabilities and strategies to break the 8-year cycle in Ghana’s elections.
This will likely involve a strong campaign focusing on the party’s achievements, future plans, and the strengths of the Bawumia-NAPO team. The NPP will need to convince the electorate that they are the best choice for Ghana’s future, addressing key issues such as the economy, education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
The NPP will also need to manage internal unity and effectively communicate their message to the public. Ultimately, the success of the NPP in breaking the 8 will depend on their ability to convince voters that they can deliver on their promises and lead Ghana to further progress and development.
