Thailand has finally decided to join the 21st century and legalize same-sex marriage. This makes Thailand the first country in Southeast Asia to do so, which is quite an accomplishment.

In all seriousness, this is a significant step forward for LGBTQ+ rights in the region. Thailand has long been seen as a relatively progressive country in Southeast Asia when it comes to LGBTQ+ issues, and this move only solidifies that reputation.

This is also worth noting that Thailand is only the third country in Asia to legalize same-sex marriage, following in the footsteps of Taiwan and Nepal.
