Tricycle and motorcycle riders in the Central Region have been found to be the main culprits behind the alarming rates of teen pregnancies. Who would have thought that these guys are not just weaving through traffic but also weaving their way into teenage hearts?
According to a study conducted by the Central Region Office of the National Youth Authority (NYA), these riders are responsible for a significant number of teen pregnancies, child marriages, and cases of sexual and gender-based violence. It’s like they’re trying to win some sort of twisted triathlon: ride, impregnate, and disappear.
To address this issue, the NYA organized a training workshop for these riders to educate them on the negative effects of their actions.
The hope is that they will become ambassadors of change and spread the word about the consequences of their behavior. The NYA is also planning to replicate this workshop across the region to cover every district and reduce the incidents of teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections among the youth.
