Laryea Kingston announced his resignation as the head coach of Ghana’s Black Starlets, the U-17 national football team, following their loss to Burkina Faso in the WAFU Zone B Championship. The defeat meant Ghana would not be qualifying for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations for the third consecutive time.
Kingston revealed that his decision to resign was made before the tournament started, irrespective of the outcome. He expressed his commitment to changing the narrative around Ghana football, having invested heavily in his coaching education. During his tenure as Black Starlets coach, Kingston led the team in 17 matches, securing 12 victories, along with 3 draws and 2 defeats. Under his leadership, the team scored a total of 54 goals and conceded 15 goals.
