Former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi lost his bid to become the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Ejisu Constituency. This loss was reported in the context of the NPP parliamentary primary held on April 13, 2024. The primary was conducted to select a candidate for the upcoming by-election in the constituency following the death of the former Member of Parliament, John Kumah, on March 7, 2024.

Nyantakyi was one of nine candidates vying for the candidacy. He faced health issues before the voting, being hospitalized due to stomach pains. Despite his hospitalization and subsequent discharge on the day of the primary, he was unable to secure the party’s nomination. The primary saw Kwabena Boateng emerging as the winner and the NPP’s candidate for the by-election scheduled for April 30, 2024.

This event was covered and reported by several sources, including social media posts from local news outlets and individuals, as well as articles from online news platforms. The outcome marks a significant moment in the political landscape of Ghana, particularly in the context of the upcoming by-election in the Ejisu Constituency.
