The Global Fund has halted the shipment of essential medical supplies to Ghana, citing delays in clearing previous donations stuck at the Tema Port.
This suspension includes urgently needed antiretroviral drugs for HIV/AIDS patients, Tuberculosis and Malaria patients.
Fellow Ghanaians, we should all be saddened and concerned by this news.
1. For those who do not know, the Global Fund is the organization that donates a significant amount of medical products, including HIV drugs, TB drugs, Malaria kits, etc to us.
2. They have been providing us with these products for some time now.
3. Thanks to these donations, our HIV and TB patients receive their medications for freeee.
4. The Global Fund is now threatening to halt deliveries to Ghana due to delays in clearing the products worth $40M at the port.
5. If this aid is halted, what will happen to our HIV and TB patients? What will happen to the fight against HIV and TB?
6. Will Ghana as a country be able to procure these medications? Do we have the financial muscle to continuously do that?
