Mohamed Salah has continued to assert his dominance over Manchester United in recent encounters, showcasing performances that have left a significant mark on the rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United. Here’s the latest on Salah’s impact:

Salah’s latest outing against Manchester United saw him score one goal and provide two assists in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory at Old Trafford. This performance not only highlighted his individual brilliance but also set new records for him in this fixture. Salah has now been involved in 17 of Liverpool’s last 23 goals against Manchester United, either scoring or assisting, which underscores his near-ownership of this particular match-up.

Salah’s record against Manchester United is becoming legendary. He has scored in his last seven appearances at Old Trafford, a feat that speaks volumes about his psychological edge in this fixture. His total tally against United includes 15 goals in all competitions since joining Liverpool in 2017, making him one of the top scorers at Old Trafford in recent years.

Under Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, Salah’s role has been pivotal. The tactical setup by Slot, which included positioning players like Alexis Mac Allister deeper to allow Salah and others more freedom, effectively exploited Manchester United’s midfield, particularly targeting Casemiro’s errors. This tactical acumen has not only showcased Salah’s clinical finishing but also his ability to influence games in multiple ways.

Amidst his stellar performance, Salah hinted at this potentially being his last season with Liverpool, given his contract situation. However, his love for the club and the city, combined with his desire to break more records, might influence future negotiations.

The X posts (tweets) reflect a mix of awe and humor at Salah’s consistent performance against Manchester United, with fans and analysts alike marveling at his ability to perform under pressure in what is considered one of the most intense rivalries in football.

For Liverpool, Salah’s form against United not only boosts morale but also sets a high bar for performance in big games. For Manchester United, Salah’s dominance is a painful reminder of their current struggles, both tactically and in terms of squad cohesion.

Salah’s latest exploits against Manchester United are not just about the goals and assists; they’re a narrative of dominance, tactical superiority, and perhaps a personal vendetta that continues to unfold on the pitch. His performances are a blend of skill, mental fortitude, and an almost uncanny ability to rise to the occasion against one of Liverpool’s fiercest rivals.

The badges, awarded annually by FIFA based on performance, fitness tests, and assessments from the previous year, authorize these officials to officiate international matches throughout 2026 across various formats.

The group includes:

  • 10 Centre Referees
  • 10 Assistant Referees
  • 1 Futsal Referee
  • 1 Beach Soccer Referee (notably, Portia Oppong, highlighted as a historic first female in this category for Ghana)
  • 1 Video Assistant Referee (VAR)

Veteran referee Daniel Nii Laryea lead the list, retaining his status with dual recognition as both a Centre Referee and VAR official, showcasing his consistent excellence on the African and global stages.

In his address the GFA Vice-President Mark Addo congratulated them and urged them to aim for world-class standards: “Aspire for greatness. You are the soul and heart of the game.” He emphasized impartiality, fairness, and the responsibility that comes with representing Ghana internationally, with continued FIFA recognition depending on ongoing performance.

This achievement reflects Ghana’s strengthening presence in global refereeing, especially after past challenges in the sport. These referees are now set to take the pitch in international competitions, bringing pride to the nation.

Well done to all involved—keep upholding the highest standards!

Senegal’s Teranga Lions are basking in glory after claiming their second Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in dramatic fashion

The team defeated hosts Morocco 1-0 in the 2025 AFCON final on January 18, 2026, thanks to a stunning extra-time goal from Pape Gueye.

The match was highly tense and chaotic and marked by a late penalty controversy that led to Senegal briefly walking off the pitch in protest, a missed Panenka attempt by Morocco, and intense drama throughout.

On their return home, the champions received an ecstatic hero’s welcome in Dakar as tens of thousands of fans flooded the streets, clad in green, yellow, and red, waving flags, blaring vuvuzelas, and chanting as the team paraded the trophy atop an open-top bus.

The procession lasted over seven hours, winding through the capital to the presidential palace, where President Bassirou Diomaye Faye greeted them, praised their “historic” resilience and fighting spirit, and declared a national holiday to celebrate.

Sadio Mané and the squad lifted the trophy high amid roaring crowds, a true outpouring of national pride after overcoming such a nail-biting final.
